Permanently Change Your Attitude in 4 Easy Steps

Permanently Change Your Attitude in 4 Easy Steps

  1. Decide to be awesome!

Permanently change your attitude for the better? Yes! Get up tomorrow and make a decision to have a spectacular day, change the world, donate to a Girl Scout, or anything that’s positive. Big or small act, simply resolve to be the best you can on this day. The small things add up to very big things. So when your alarm goes off in the AM, start anew.

  1. Count to 10 and woosah!

Everything works better in life when your attitude is even kill. When you get flustered and you allow circumstances (many of which you have the power to change) to take over you’ve just lost. Take a second to defuse situations that aren’t ideal and ask yourself, “What can I do to make things better?” Save more energy and keep your blood pressure down.

Your customer has been promising to pay you, but has mailed your check yet? It will be okay—figure out another solution. There is always another way, but if you don’t take a minute to calm yourself you won’t figure it out!

  1. Be the bigger person.

I watched Walter Payton, one of football’s greatest running backs, try to enter a store just as it was closing. The store employee was locking the door just as Mr. Payton and I were trying to enter. He told Mr. Payton, “I’m sorry but we are closed now.” Walter Payton just smiled and said, “I’m sorry I didn’t realize what time it was.” Then he turned and walked away. I knocked on the door and waived to the worker to come back and asked him if he knew who he just turned away. He replied, “No”. “That was Walter Payton, he’s just the guy with his hand prints immortalized on the side of your building,” I shared with him.

Do you think Walter Payton decided to have a good or bad day before he left his home that day? I’m willing to bet it was the former. Your attitude carries with it a lot of weight, and it treks along with you all day. Why not make a positive choice when you leave your house tomorrow and travel light?
